UK's Shamima Begum: IS sex slave or suicide bomber?

- Shamima Begum's case under discussion: Her petition to regain British citizenship has begun hearing in the UK Court of Appeal.

- Shamima's lawyers say that Shamima was definitely going to Syria after fleeing, but she suffered terrible torture in Syria. Given that she was used as a sex slave by Islamic State terrorists, Shamima is not a threat to UK security, but Shamima herself is a victim. Another section believes that it is quite possible that Shamima is a pawn of IS. Shamima is feared to be a threat to UK security by entering the UK as a victim of IS atrocities. It is well known that IS uses girls as suicide bombers so Shamima should be warned.

The case of Shamima Begum is currently in discussion in the United Kingdom (UK). The hearing of Shamima Begum's petition to regain British citizenship has begun in the UK Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal is the second highest court in the UK after the Supreme Court. Shamima had joined the fundamentalist terrorist organization Islamic State (IS), so her citizenship was revoked.

Shamima's lawyers say that Shamima must have escaped to Syria, but she suffered terrible torture in Syria. Given that she was used as a sex slave by Islamic State terrorists, Shamima is not a threat to UK security but a victim herself. In these circumstances the decision to revoke his citizenship is illegal. This decision should be overturned and Shamima should be given British citizenship again.

With the hearing of Shamima's appeal, two camps have fallen in the UK. After listening to Shamima's harrowing story, there is a large section of people who believe that she is a victim of circumstances. This section believes that if Shamima's British citizenship is not returned, she will not belong anywhere. Shamima may fall back into the hands of terrorists so citizenship should be given back to save her.

Another section believes that it is quite possible that Shamima is a pawn of IS. Shamima is feared to be a threat to UK security by entering the UK as a victim of IS atrocities. It is well known that IS uses girls as suicide bombers.

The possibility of a conspiracy to use Shamima as a suicide bomber and as a part of it to fabricate a story of atrocities and sex slaves by IS to garner sympathy cannot be ruled out. Under these circumstances UK should not take risk and keep Shamima away from UK.

All eyes are on what the Court of Appeal decides but Shamima's story is undoubtedly very interesting. Shamima's parents Asma Begum and Ahmad Ali are Bangladeshi. Shamima was born in London. After that her father left for Bangladesh while Asma stayed in London.

While studying at London's Bethnal Green Academy, Shamima came into contact with a fundamentalist woman named Aqsa Mahmood. Aqsa brainwashed him to join the Islamic State. Due to this, Shamima ran away from home in February 2015 along with her two friends Amira Abbas and Kadiza Sultana. According to the instruction of IS, these three along with about 550 girls reached Istanbul, Turkey. These three girls stole jewelry from the house and sold it for the flight.

They were taken to Syria by IS man Mohammad al-Rashid from Istanbul. Rashid also worked as an agent of the Canadian spy agency CSIS. In Syria, Shamima's Nikah Yago was arranged with Riyadh. Rago was from the Netherlands and converted to Islam. Sultana's Nikah was done with Jihadi, a native of Somalia who is also an American citizen, while Abbasi's Nikah was done with 18-year-old Australian Abdullah Elmir.

Among these, Sultana's husband was killed in a Russian attack. Sultana then wanted to come back to UK but the terrorists did not allow her to come. He was used as a sex slave. One day, Sultana escaped but was killed in a bombardment by Russian planes.

Abase's husband also Maraiolo. No one knows what happened to Abase after that, but the information about Shamima came in February 2019. Anthony Lloyd, a journalist for The Times, met Shamima when he went to cover a story in a Syrian refugee camp. Shamima narrated her story to him. Shamima said at the time that she had no regrets about joining the Islamic State. Based on that, the British government canceled his citizenship. Shamima was pregnant when she met Lloyd and also gave the information that two children had already passed away. Shamima also said that her husband has been imprisoned by the Syrian government.

Shamima is still in Syria but her mother has waged a legal battle to bring her back. Shamima has no future in Syria so she also wants to come back to Britain. Shamima's mother Asma is being assisted by human rights lawyers. These lawyers have also raised questions against the British security agencies on the issue that a girl escaped from Britain without anyone knowing.

As Shamima's parents are Bangladeshi, the British government has argued that Shamima can also go to Bangladesh, but Bangladesh is not ready to accept Shamima as she does not have Bangladeshi citizenship. Britain's Supreme Court has accepted that Shamima was lured by the Islamic State and poisoned with radicalism to travel to Syria. This admission strengthens Shamina's case.

It is not known what will happen to Shamima, but the incident has once again exposed the modus operandi of fundamentalist organizations like the Islamic State. Thousands of girls who suffer because of bigotry are in the same situation as Shamima. Those girls are used to satisfy the desire of terrorists and cannot be freed from them. When it is released, it is killed or it is left through the gate of the house like Shamina.

Shamima was used to satisfy the terrorist desires of IS

Shamima lived in Bethnal Green area of East London, Britain. In 2015, when Shamima was just 15 years old, she escaped from Britain and reached Syria. Two other Muslim friends from the school also fled to Syria with him. Shamima had left and married an ISIS terrorist in Syria hoping to live according to the rules of Islam under the rule of the Islamic State. In an interview Shamima gave while in Syria, she said that she is very happy with her decision and has no regrets about leaving Britain.

According to Shamima's lawyers, Shamima's troubles started after her husband was arrested in 2019. Shamima lived in a refugee camp and there she was forced to have sexual relations with other terrorists. Lawyers claim that Shamima was raped daily in the area of Kurdish terrorists in North-East Syria.

Shamima is now believed to be living in a refugee camp from Syria. Shamima's mother Asma Begum has started a campaign to get her citizenship back with the help of human rights activists.

A 16-year-old girl from Pune escaped to become an IS bomber

A similar incident like Shamima happened in India in 2015 when a 16-year-old Muslim girl from Pune ran away from home to join IS. This girl was so influenced by IS that she wanted to become a suicide bomber. Fortunately, the girl's parents came to know about her intention before she left Pune and immediately informed the police. The police caught the girl and calmed her down so the girl regained consciousness. Otherwise, this girl also became another Shamima. Like Shamima, she would have become a victim of physical abuse and terror.

In 2017, two youths were arrested from Gujarat who were in the hands of the Islamic State (IS). One of the youths from a good family was studying in MCA and the younger brother was a BCA. His father was also doing a good government job and had a reputation. Both brothers, who could have advanced in the field of computers, were turned to the Islamic State by the elder brother's wife. These incidents are proof that IS adopts a strategy of targeting women and brainwashing them.
