Facebook-Insta dangerous for children, America woke up late

- The US Congress has also acknowledged that Facebook and Instagram have adopted harmful and manipulative tactics towards children.

- Due to the addictive features of Facebook and Instagram, kids get addicted and spend most of their time on it. Insomnia, depression, stress etc. mental illnesses also occur in children. Children take the comments on social media very seriously and hence get depressed due to negative comments.

The US Congress has also acknowledged that Meta has adopted harmful and manipulative tactics on Facebook and Instagram. Immorality is practiced to entice children. Children are constantly engaged on social media, so huge amount of advertisements come and meta earns huge. Meta also collects data from children under the age of 13, violating US child privacy laws.

42 states of America have decided the case against Facebook and Instagram for spoiling the health of children, there have been deep repercussions in the world. On social media, people are calling the decision taken by the US state as correct. Many have even advocated that social media apps including Facebook, Instagram should be banned in their own country or the case should be dropped.

It is an old rumor that boys are spoiled by addiction to social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and their physical and mental health is badly affected.

Doctors and psychologists constantly warn boys to stay away from social media platforms but no one takes it seriously.

Majority of US states have taken this warning seriously and it is expected that a worldwide awareness campaign against these apps will be launched. There are total 50 states in America and Washington DC together are 51 states. Among these, 41 states and 42 states including Washington DC have announced to sue Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. America has woken up belatedly to the dangerous effects of social media.

According to these states, Facebook and Instagram have added some addictive features that make boys unable to get out of their addiction. Children's mental health deteriorates to the extent that they are at the level of mental patients as they are constantly engaged in Facebook and Instagram. Facebook and Instagram are killing children mentally so they will be sued in the US court to stop it.

The American states had to take this drastic decision because of the investigation of the American Congress ie the Parliament. In America, there have been complaints for a long time that Facebook and Instagram have a bad effect on children's health. In 2021, several employees who worked at Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, entered the fray. He revealed the details with evidence regarding the tactics Meta uses to increase his profits.

Meta also provided evidence of how things considered harmful to society are being ignored to make a profit. An internal report was attached stating that the health issues of children and adolescents were being neglected.

In the wake of this blast, an investigation was started in 2021 by the US Parliament i.e. Congress.

The US Congress subpoenaed the employees and took concrete evidence from them, and based on that, the indictment against Meta has been framed.

According to the findings of this investigation, due to the addictive features of Facebook and Instagram, children get addicted and therefore spend most of their time on them.

This is a very serious allegation.

Meta may also be investigated whether it has sold data on children under 13 years of age. If the data of children under the age of 13 is sold, the managers of the company, including Mark Zuckerberg, will be booed. The company is also alleged to have violated consumer protection laws.

33 states, including California, will file joint lawsuits in California's federal courts, while Washington DC and eight other states will file lawsuits in separate courts, as Meta cannot escape by taking advantage of loopholes in the laws.

Huge compensation may be demanded from the company so that no other company does such actions in future. However, the main emphasis is on ordering the shutdown of Facebook and Instagram's addictive features. If these features are closed, the interest of youngsters in Facebook and Instagram will decrease, so the amount of advertisements will also decrease. Due to this, if the income of the company takes a big hit, then everything automatically stops.

There is no doubt that the states of America have taken a good initiative but it is not likely to happen in all the countries of the world when this problem is global. All countries in the world are suffering from the contamination of social media platforms, except the countries including China where there is government control. In all countries including India, the obsession with social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram is ruining children.

Children do not study because they are glued to Facebook and Instagram, they do not eat regularly, they fall sick, they prefer to be alone and they become mentally ill. Not all countries are capable of behaving like America, so parents also need to be vigilant about their children's mental and physical health.

Most of our middle class families out there get a smartphone as soon as the child turns eight-ten years old. Mobile phones should be given to children as they are important for both their education and security, but if parents refrain from giving smartphones to children, many problems can be reduced.

Internet is required for social media apps. Mobile phones without internet may keep children away from this obsession.

Facebook earned 250 million dollars by selling data, now it will give 72 million

Facebook is involved in unethical activities including selling data of its users. The company recently settled out of court over the sale of its users' data to an agency called Cambridge Analytica. According to this settlement, the company is ready to pay 72.5 crore dollars (about Rs. 6100 crores). Since May 24, 2007, anyone living in the US who has an account on Facebook can apply to claim their share of the $725 million.

In 2016, Cambridge Analytica ran a campaign to make Donald Trump the President of the United States. As part of that, users' data was taken from Facebook. Cambridge is said to have paid Facebook at least $2.5 billion for it. Facebook has 24 million users in America and it is believed to have taken 2.5 billion dollars from Cambridge by adding 10 dollars per user plus another 100 million dollars.

Considering that he got this amount seven years ago, now it is said that his value is around 400 crore dollars. The company has to give only 72.5 million dollars out of it to the users. Just imagine how much the company would be earning through such unethical activities.

America's population is 34 crore, 24 crore Facebook accounts

Facebook's influence in America is tremendous. It is believed that 72 percent of the total population of America uses Facebook. About fifteen percent of the people who do not use Facebook are children up to five years of age, so about 85 percent of the population of America is a Facebook user. The total population of America is around 34 crores while the number of users is around 24 crores.

According to the 1990 law of America, the data of children under the age of 13 cannot be taken, so children under the age of 13 cannot open an account on Facebook. This is Facebook's official policy and Facebook claims not to violate it, but it turns a blind eye to accounts created under false names or ages. It is said that there are 2 crore accounts of children under the age of 13 years on Facebook, while teenagers together reach around 10 crore.
