Time has come to really ban flights

- France bans short-haul flights

- 16 thousand premature deaths every year due to increasing carbon footprint

Global agencies including the UN and the World Health Organization believe that if the reduction of carbon emissions in the world is delayed now, the sixth epidemic will occur in the near future. The thing is, how is carbon emission? Carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide or other toxic gases containing carbon are the result of industrialization and the development of transportation. As the facilities have increased, its side effects have also increased. Nowadays, AC emits more heat outside than it cools the house. Similarly, the carbon footprint of the planes that fly around the world has increased tremendously. As experts know, the largest part of the carbon emissions in the world is from flights. Now is the time to overcome it. Experts do not have exact figures on how much carbon is emitted by flights, but it is estimated that a bus emits 100 times more pollution than a flight in one hour.

Various organizations and agencies working to prevent pollution say that 10 percent of the pollution in the world is caused by vehicles and 4 percent of it is caused by flights. If we look at it like this, the number will seem small but its impact is very big. Air pollution caused by airlines causes 16,000 premature deaths every year. It takes a year for an acre of forest to absorb the carbon emissions generated when a flight travels from London to New York. The situation is such that big countries and developed countries are deviating from this issue but are not working to stop it. According to statistics, 650 million domestic and international flights took off and landed in America in 2021 or when the Corona epidemic was at its peak. It is followed by China and then the European Union.

Developed countries don't want to prevent this but some countries have prepared. Sweden in particular has launched a flight shaming social campaign. People who take short-haul flights are trolled. The campaign has been a huge success. France has gone even further and banned domestic flights for all journeys that can be traveled by train in less than two and a half hours. The thing is, only 3 percent of the world's population falls into the category of frequent flyers and the remaining 97 percent harm the health of the people. If countries like France and Sweden can do this, India should also think in this direction. Stopping the bags alone will not save the environment. Other forms of pollution also have to be tackled. America, China, Russia, Japan and other countries of Europe are always blaming the developing countries and there are arguments on this issue but now the time is ripe to take concrete steps.

People of the world should understand the difference between luxury and necessity and use flights. All countries should also ban short-haul flights to curb pollution and save fuel. When work is done in this direction from now on, the next fifty years will get high results.
