Phil's plan to import shoes from Japan to America

Phil Knight embarked on a world tour after completing his MBA from Stanford University.

- Part-2

- His grandchildren did not like Phil Knight doing business with Japan

- The US dropped the first atomic bombs on two Japanese cities - Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

My favorite idea is: running. Some of the other ideas are just as crazy - too hard, too pain, too risky, too risky. These are ideas in which there is never any guarantee of respect, honour, reward. Every runner knows this.

That's why I said to myself that morning in 1962, even if everyone else calls your idea crazy, don't worry about it, keep going. Don't stop. Don't even think about stopping.

When Phil Knight was at Stanford there was a seminar on "Entrepreneurship". After that, all the students were instructed to write a research paper on different topics. Phil Knight wrote a paper on "shoes" boot-joints. Phil became so engrossed in this assignment that he was thinking about shoes day and night. Being a runner himself, Phil knew quite a bit about "running shoes".

And I also had a little knowledge about the business world. I knew that Germany used to dominate the camera market at one time, but then the Japanese made a good mark in the camera market. In my research paper, I mentioned this point and advanced the argument that there will come a time when Japanese shoes may overtake the shoe market of other countries' companies, just as Japan broke Germany's camera market.

I myself liked this idea of mine, I got encouragement from it. This idea started swirling in my mind.

I spent weeks after this research paper, I went to the library all day and read a lot of books about export-import, and about starting a new company.

Finally I presented this paper to my classmates. But they seemed "bored" during the presentation, not a single student asked a single question after the presentation.

But the professor felt that my crazy idea needed something. He gave me a "six" grade.

Every day after this paper presentation, I had thoughts of going to Japan and finding a really good shoe company and pitching my crazy idea to them, hoping that even though my classmates might not be enthusiastically interested in my research paper, the senior executives of a Japanese shoe company would partner with me. Bani will expand their market in America.

(Originally, Phil Knight's crazy idea was to do a backpacking world tour after completing his studies at Stanford, and during this world tour he would also go to Japan and sign a contract to import shoes from a famous shoe company to America, and the dream was that there would be a big market for Japanese shoes in America. Stand up and bang.

Many things were crazy about Phil Knight's idea. One is to do a world tour after completing his studies at Stanford, in his world tour Hawaii, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Rangoon, Calcutta, Mumbai, Kathmandu, Cairo, Istanbul, Athens, Jordan, Jerusalem, Nairobi, Rome, Paris, Vienna, West Berlin, East Berlin, London were included.. Among all this, he also went to Tokyo, the capital of Japan, and did business deals with the officials of the famous shoe company there. This is about 1962, before that, about 21 years ago, in 1941, Japan attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor and called off the ships of the American Navy. As a result, America declared war against Japan in World War II and to end World War II and to teach Japan a lesson, the whole world was stunned when America dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6th and Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945. Because this was the first time in the wars of the world that an extremely destructive atomic bomb was used, in which millions of citizens of the above two cities were pushed to the face of death.)

It was only 17 years since the end of the Great War between America and Japan, so it was natural that Phil's children did not like his grandson Phil Knight to go to the enemy country and make a plan to start a business with a company there.

But Phil was determined to implement his crazy idea.

Nani asked him, are you going to Japan? Buck, (Phil Knight was called Buck by everyone in the house.) Just a few years ago, the Japanese were attacking us to kill us, and you're thinking of going to that enemy country? Don't you know the devastation the Japanese bombed in Pearl Harbor? If you go there, those people will catch you and remove your eyeballs. You will be tortured in jail.

Dt. On September 7, 1962, Phil Knight left for a world tour with an old classmate, Carter.

First of all, they reached Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, the island of America. Both of them enjoyed a few days of walking on the beach and bathing in the sea. Phil liked the place so much that he even found a job there and the two young friends began to enjoy the beach.

A few days later Phil said to his friend Carter, I think we should leave this heavenly place and go on a world tour.

In response, Carter said, "I don't feel like moving on so soon."

Phil realized. Carter didn't want to leave Honolulu because he had found a beautiful girl there.

Phil told him, I know, buddy, why don't you leave Honolulu.

Two days later, Phil left for Tokyo alone, leaving Carter in Honolulu.
