The virus of layoffs has been released by Elon Musk

Companies like Amazon and Google, who are making crores of profit, do not hesitate to lay off staff

The information technology sector is booming. Who will go to work tomorrow morning? The atmosphere is uncertain. Tension has arisen among those who have gone to America for jobs. There is an atmosphere of fear that the trusted employer will say 'sorry' at any time. Employees fear that no other company will take over, as everyone is in a mood to reduce staff.

Those who join big companies have the confidence that the company is reliable so that their job will not be affected. So people prefer reputed corporate companies for jobs. It becomes news when reputed companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft cut jobs.

Other small companies making massive job cuts don't make the news. Companies like Amazon and Google, which make billions in profits, do not hesitate to lay off staff. Rejected in management language by emailing staff. When there is a lot of fuss, the company says that we have rejected the staff too seriously.

Due to the economic uncertainty, IT companies have raised the weapon of layoffs. At the root of all this is Elon Musk laying off staff after buying Twitter. When layoffs began after the much-controversial Twitter deal, he said the company needed to cut costs.

Musk initiated massive layoffs and the virus spread to other companies. Amazon has laid off the most 18,000 staffers, while Google has laid off 12,000. Microsoft has also announced more than 10,000 layoffs. The retrenchment that started in the last three months of 2022 became even more turbulent from the beginning of 2023. Amazon, Google, Twitter etc have laid off a total of one lakh employees. Facebook has furloughed 13% of its staff. Companies like HP and Adobe have also announced staff cuts. IT experts who had the honor of getting work in big companies are now ready to work in any small company.

People who have been laid off have joined other companies, but there is still a risk. Some have lost their jobs thrice in four months while others are sitting back hoping they will be called back. In case of retrenchment, freshers and temporary appointees on contract are mostly affected. After that comes the turn of non-earning departments. In the current wave of retrenchments, the top posts have also been cut. According to a report, as many as 166 IT companies have retrenched.

Some companies in India such as ShareChat have talked about 20 percent staff cuts, due to which 500 people will lose their jobs. IT giant Wipro has rejected around 400 new staff with folded hands. Food delivery company Swiggy has also put 380 employees on long leave. Ola company has rejected about 200 staff.

Google has said that we will try to accommodate some of the laid-off staff in other subsidiaries. Those who lose their jobs in America don't break the news to their parents in India. After getting another job, he says that I am no longer in my old job and have joined a new company. Parents living in India see reports of layoffs adding to the tension.

The virus of layoffs that has entered American IT companies has yet to create a strong impact in Indian companies. India's IT companies are in the doldrums. TCS Company had appointed one lakh people in 2008. It is seen from the dismissal of the staff that the impact of recession is going to be only on the IT companies. It should also be noted that there is no movement of staff retrenchment in other sectors.
