India's youngest donor.

- The Inside Story

One commonality between four Indians Azim Premji, Kiran Majmudar Shaw, Rohini Nandan Nilekani and Nikhil Kamath is that they are all Danveers and another commonality is that each is good at his own business. People welcomed 35-year-old Nikhil Kamath when he announced to donate half of his wealth. Even older people rarely think of donating their accumulated wealth, when a youngster like 35-year-old Nikhil Kamath asks to donate half of his wealth, it becomes a talking point. A chest of 56 inches is required to announce the donation of half of one's wealth. Everyone knows to come empty-handed and leave empty-handed yet clings to wealth to the end. In the corporate world, people store and pre-plan wealth for their heirs. But some rare ones win people's love by announcing to donate half of their wealth with their life.

Nikhil Kamath, one of the founders of Zerodha, has taken a pledge to donate half of his wealth in the Danni Sarvani campaign (pledge to give) that started in 2010. Nikhil Kamath, who took such a pledge, is the youngest to announce that he will donate half his wealth. Warren Buffett, Melinda Gates and Bill Gates started the campaign to donate half of their wealth in 2010. Billions of husbands have used their wealth for society by declaring their wealth to be donated to charity. Since the campaign was launched, 240 people from 29 countries have pledged to donate their wealth.

182 billionaires, which is the most in North America, have joined this campaign. 27 from Europe, 9 from Middle East countries, 8 from East Asia. Four people, including Nikhil Kamath, have taken the pledge in India. The other three from India include Azim Premji, Kiran Mazmoodar Shaw, Rohini-Nandan Nilekani. Nikhil Kamath and his brother Nitin Kamath gave 100 crore rupees to help those affected by natural calamities. Generally, the average age of donors during 2019 was 64 years which reached 69 years in 2022. But in 2023, 35-year-old Nikhil Kamath has set an exemplary example for other young entrepreneurs by asking to donate half of his wealth.

Zerodha is a trading platform. Nikhil Kamath got married in April 2019. After one year of marriage, the couple separated. Nikhil and Nitin Kamath are two brothers. Kamath Associates was his first business venture in which he was a sub broker of Reliance Money. His company name Zerodha is a combination of Sanskrit and English. It means zero barriers. Kamath brothers were included in the list of millionaire brothers. The Kamath brothers have assets worth crores. Nikhil Kamath has a wealth of 110 million dollars while his brother Nitin Kamath has a wealth of 270 million dollars. Even if Nikhil donates 500 million dollars out of his 110 million dollars, he still has 55 million dollars to spare.

The estimated net worth of the Kamath brothers is $3.45 billion. His charities focus on environment, energy, education and health. Nikhil Kamath deserves admiration and respect when it comes to giving away half his wealth to charity at the age of going to a pub or a dance bar.
