Mining mafia species.

In many states of the country, a society called mining mafia has come into existence. It's not today, it's been years. Now it has spread everywhere because the government has not taken strict action on it. A new hierarchy of these mining mafias is on the rise, just like Naxalism and like terrorism. Various state governments are not able to control it, and the reason behind it is clear that some MLAs and ministers of the government have underground connections with the mafia. Amit Jethwa massacre in Gujarat is a similar case. Disadvantage mining is a situation where profit is more than profit. There are commissions of many people in it. A whole systematic network of various government departments is linked to illegal mining. This activity cannot stop until it is exposed.

Stopping illegal mining has become a major challenge across the country. Sometimes the administration appears to be tough but becomes helpless against the dominance of the mining mafia. A recent example of this is that a Patwari who went to stop illegal mining in Shahdol of Madhya Pradesh was crushed to death by a tractor. There were constant complaints of illegal sand mining in the area, keeping in view a drive to crack down on the mining mafia. A large amount of illegal sand was also seized in the last three days. A team of three Patwaris arrived on Saturday to conduct the raid. When the sand-laden tractor stopped, the driver hit a patwari and ran away. He died there.

Although the administration is showing its readiness by arresting the accused tractor driver after this incident, the question arises as to why there is so much difficulty in stopping illegal mining. If the administration really wanted to control this, the mining mafia could not have acted in an arbitrary and hegemonic manner. Even before in Madhya Pradesh, officials and employees who tried to stop illegal mining had to lose their lives. Last year in Madhya Pradesh itself, forest department personnel who went to raid illegal sand miners were beaten and injured by the mafia with sticks. About eleven years ago, a police officer was also killed in a similar manner. After that there have been many incidents of government employees being crushed under tractors.

In this way the mining mafia tries to create psychological pressure and fear on the administration that it will not refrain from murder if attempts are made to shut down its business. A similar dominance is seen in stone and coal mining. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, such incidents of killing of government employees at the hands of mining mafias are also heard from states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka etc. Generally governments award contracts for mining of sand, stone, coal etc. after assessing the water catchment area of rivers, geographical and environmental conditions of hilly areas, etc., in which the limits of extraction of sand, stone, coal etc. are also fixed. But in the greed of earning more, the contractors themselves mine more than the prescribed limit, parallel to this many illegal mining gangs have also become active.

It is no secret that these are mostly people who run their business with political and administrative influence and connections. There is hardly any state where illegal mining does not take place under political patronage. The opposition has got an opportunity to target the incident in Madhya Pradesh. A bike-riding inspector and a constable were crushed by a speeding tractor carrying sand recently in Bihar's Jamui district. Due to which the inspector died on the spot and the constable was seriously injured. Local people allege that the mining mafia is involved. Mining mafias have become rampant in the state. Apart from Jamui, mining mafias are also engaged in illegal mining activities in many other cities.
