Pieces of Uttar Pradesh? .

In democracies, one of the reasons for the frequent failure of the legislature, judiciary and executive is their absence on the ground, one of the reasons being the large size of the administrative units. So can smaller states be more effective? Experiences so far show this. The creation of many new states over time has played a useful role in the progress of Indian democracy. Formation of a new state is not an easy task and such a decision can be taken only after much thought and extensive deliberation. Real experiences show that when such a path is taken, the creation of new states brings several other benefits besides resolving many disputes. After independence, there were several disputes regarding the state of Punjab, followed by the states that came before us in the form of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Played an important role in resolving disputes and satisfying the people of all regions. The emergence of three separate states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh has provided a satisfactory solution for Indian democracy.

Talking about the new states formed later, we have the examples of Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Telangana and Jharkhand. The demand for a separate state in these areas had been rising for a long time. People also had high hopes from the new states. Compared to these broad expectations, the people may not receive adequate benefits, yet overall there is little satisfaction with these new states at the regional level. Overall, the creation of these four states also became a source of strength for Indian democracy. Regional cultures got a chance to emerge more and political representation at the regional level also got better opportunities. Contrary to Chief Minister Yogi Aditya's belief, the central government has taken an in-principle decision to de-geographically divide Uttar Pradesh, which is yet to be announced.

A big question is, will the creation of some new states in the future also go beyond a conciliatory, comprehensive discussion, so that it will not create any new problems, but will be a source of strength for Indian democracy? In this regard, most of the attention in any discussion goes to Uttar Pradesh. Because currently Uttar Pradesh is the largest state. Where new, relatively small states are more likely. If the average population of all states and Union Territories is looked at, the population of Uttar Pradesh is almost five times more than this. If we look at India's three neighboring countries (Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar), only the state of Uttar Pradesh has more than twice the population of their combined population.

West-Uttar Pradesh is sometimes called Harit-Pradesh. It has major cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Mathura. It is near Delhi. Political representation is strong. Here are the different state possibilities. Similarly, East-Uttar Pradesh also has similar possibilities. Here are big and famous cities like Varanasi and Gorakhpur. This region is also sometimes called Purvanchal. Politically this area is also very active. Madhya-Uttar Pradesh has famous cities like Lucknow and Kanpur. A separate state can also be formed here for which the capital Lucknow already exists.

The demand for a separate Bundelkhand state has been on the rise for a long time. Seven districts of Uttar Pradesh are associated with the identity of Bundelkhandi. Madhya Pradesh has about the same number of districts with Bundelkhand identity. If these are merged, the long-pending demand of Bundelkhand state can also be fulfilled at once. It will have major cities like Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) and Sagar (Madhya Pradesh). In this way, four new states could be established, known as their own cultural and political entities. The population of three of these states is likely to be higher than the average state population of India. All these states can become a unit with an overarching identity of its own. Most of the states in North India are relatively sparsely populated states and these new states will look like some of the larger states in comparison. The creation of these four states will also help improve the political balance of Indian democracy.
