New law in effect from today: Know before shopping online, otherwise you will be disappointed

- Fake reviews on e-commerce sites: Law comes into force from today

- As a precaution, the person writing the review has to write his phone number and address as well

Fake reviews are one of the ways in which companies involved in e-commerce have been deceiving customers in various ways. The barometer to say that one's product is the best is the review button. People buy products by reading reviews. Online buyers trust reviews more and buy after seeing them. E-commerce companies are very clever. Fake reviews started appearing on e-commerce sites after seeing people buying from reviews. Consumers did not realize that even reviews can lead to fraud.

Laws to prevent consumers from being duped by fake reviews come into effect today. Fake reviews are not just for e-commerce sites. Film reviewers also give wrong reviews. Even reviews written on a personal level are full of sarcasm. It is not appropriate to form an opinion for someone based on someone's words.

E-commerce sites used to use review columns in their own way to attract online buyers. No one was looking at him. Lately, the government has come to know that fake reviews are being given to divert customers. Many customers complained that the review given by us was not visible on the site. Thus, everything was reading well for the product. Negative reviews were suppressed. Thus, consumers were deprived of the truth.

Generally, reviews written on any site go directly to the website's server. Each site is developed in such a way that it can delete reviews and keep the favorite and useful reviews. Using this system, the correct product reviews were not reaching the customers.

E-commerce sites didn't stop there. She used to write false reviews of products that were not sold through her contacts and claimed that they were the best. Customers who placed orders after reading reviews were fooled and left scratching their heads when they received the product. Many people have had this experience.

E-commerce business has flourished in India. Due to accompanying small traders, many products are sold on it and the small traders are getting direct money. There is intense competition between various e-commerce platforms. The government should also keep in mind that e-commerce people will buy their own products to market themselves and then write reviews showing the reach with customer numbers. So the government has to make the system of screening more sharp. It is not very easy to make improvements as people are accustomed to using e-commerce. It can be said that the government has woken up very late.

The Department of Consumer Affairs along with other agencies have set standards for online consumer reviews to ensure that consumers are not misled by reviews. Every e-commerce site has to compulsorily adopt these norms. Penalties are provided against non-adopters. Customers can complain against false reviews. The review writer has to provide his/her phone number and address. No one who writes a false review will be willing to give out their phone number or address.

The government has issued new guidelines to curb the system of fake reviews. Anyone working on an e-commerce site cannot write a review. Only those who have purchased the product can write a review. E-commerce sites may not use any third party to write reviews. That means no one else can write a review on their behalf. Currently, stopping fake reviews is voluntary, but the government is considering making it mandatory. After reading this much, customers have realized that most of the reviews were created to deceive them.
