Error in parliament security.
Opposition activity and opposition approach on security breach in Parliament in Delhi is disappointing. This issue is not being discussed in Parliament. There was no harmony in presenting the whole situation to the country. The ruling party was naturally at the forefront of arresting opposition MPs and handing them over to security forces. A healthy debate should be ensured within the Parliament. The attitude of the Opposition and the opposition is disappointing regarding the security lapse on December 13 during the winter session of Parliament. Although it is widely agreed that the kind of mistake that has been made is very serious, the fact that the parliament of the country is not able to discuss the various aspects related to this issue is a more dangerous fact than the attack that was made. This fact gives us an insight into the weakness of parliamentary democracy and the desire of the people to keep its authenticity dormant. The opposition is demanding that Mr. Shah, as Home Minister, should give his statement on the relevant lapse. This is Manipuri move of opposition.
There was no division between the parties and the opposition in the House when two youths entered the House from the audience gallery and caused smoke and chaos. Not only did the MPs of both the parties and mainly the opposition take the lead in arresting the youth and handing them over to the security forces, but there was coordination between the two parties in giving the details of the incident and presenting the entire situation to the country through the media. This raised the hope that our Parliament would show total unity in dealing with this momentous event and general political differences would not be allowed to become an issue. But by evening the situation changed. Reactions started pouring in along party lines. The issue was a breach in Parliament's security, but many opposition MPs began to link it to the new Parliament building and repeated old allegations and counter-allegations.
The sequence intensified the next day when the opposition, adamant on the demand for the Home Minister's statement, raised an uproar. The ruling party also responded to this in the form of strict action. Although proposals for negotiations were made and attempts at persuasion were made, they remained inconclusive. The result came in the form of suspension of 14 opposition MPs. On the whole, the situation is such that there is great clamor and noise in the Parliament, but on this important point, there is no voice of its collective conscience which can dispel the confusion arising among various sections of the countrymen. It needs to be understood that these are very crucial moments for Indian democracy. This incident took place at a time when there was a warning of an attack on the Parliament by the terrorist elements active on foreign soil with the exact same date.
Even though these youths who infiltrated Parliament do not seem to have any connection with those elements at first glance, they have not yet received a clean chit from the investigating agencies. In such a situation it is pointless for party and opposition to blame each other. Both parties should rise above the demands of parochial politics and ensure a healthy debate within Parliament. The question is that Parliament is one of the highest security buildings in our country. Such a major security breach is unacceptable. The opposition has proposed a complete review of security arrangements at the new Parliament House. The opposition says that this incident took place three months after the inauguration of the new Parliament building. Such thorough investigation should be ordered. On the security breach in Parliament, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, the fact is that these people were clearly sponsored by the sitting MP of the ruling party. The fact that these people are smuggling smoke pistols shows that there is a serious lapse in security. Tharoor said that the new building does not seem to be very well prepared from a security point of view compared to the arrangements in place in the old building.
Regarding the security lapse in the Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav said that this is a total security lapse. Anything can happen inside the house today. Anyone who comes here - be it visitors or journalists, no one has a tag. Government should pay attention to this. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that this matter is very serious, this is not only a question of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, it is a question of how two people could come in and breach security despite such tight security.
