The issue of minimum support price is re-emerging, the farmers of Punjab are not suffering

- The central government should understand the seriousness of the 'movement' when the flags and cheers of the Khalistanists are seen.

The Kisan movement is raising the concern of the Modi government. It is clear that the policy of bending the government to implement its demands by putting pressure on the government is not possible without political backing. During the Kisan agitation in late 2021, the agitation ended when the Modi government withdrew three laws. The government was caught sleeping that time too and this time too it has been caught sleeping. Given the fervor with which the movement has been launched and is progressing, it seems that the government will have to bend again on several issues.

When flags and cheers of Khalistanists are seen in the movement, the central government should understand its seriousness. The agitators have loaded enough food items in tractors to last one month, so it is believed that their plan will be to run the agitation for at least one month. This could be a political game plan to underline the growing prestige of the central government after the death of Ram Lalla's idol in Ayodhya's Ram Mandir. No opposition leader is directly associated with the movement, but behind the scenes their faces are visible through statements.

The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab allowed the agitators to gather, while Rahul Gandhi is now saying that if our government comes, we will implement the Bharat Ratna Swaminathan report. Unfortunately for India, the right to agitate is given to anyone. Of course, no one can have the right to disturb people or agitate like war. Looking at the way opposition organizations are supporting the movement, it seems that a platform has been formed to create anti-government wind in a very systematic way.

Bharat Ratna Swaminathan has become a favorite among agitators overnight. The report prepared by Swaminathan, who created a revolution in the field of agriculture, is known as the Swaminathan Committee proposals. The specter of MSP (Minimum Support Price) is often raised. Swaminathan has recommended an additional fifty percent of the production cost of agricultural crops as MSP. For that, a budget of approximately 12 lakh crores per year is required.

Since 2010, there has been talk of implementing the proposals of this committee, but the central governments are keeping it aloof. In 2010, the UPA government did not accept these recommendations. After that, in the second term of the Modi government, farmer leaders like Rakesh Tikait staged a movement and forced the government to withdraw three agricultural reform laws introduced by the government.

The current frenzy was seen in the last phase of the last movement. This time the beginning has been done with passion. Now the movement has become against the police. Watching the scenes on TV gives the impression that a mini-war has begun. The government's tolerance seems to be being tested as the barricades set up to stop the agitators are blown up and the tractors rush towards the police. There is a government with a majority at the Centre, but with elections coming up and Aam Aadmi Party governments in Punjab and Delhi, opposition leaders are speculated to be steering the movement behind the scenes.

People are shocked to see scenes of peasants walking around with swords on TV. If the people of every sector take the path of farmers and start raising slogans of 'Chalo Delhi' to put pressure on the government, then the situation in the country will turn into chaos. In a democracy, those who have the right to agitate also have the sensible option of sitting with the government and solving the problem peacefully.

Every sector in India is trying to increase profits. Farmers from Punjab and Haryana are among the richest farmers in the country. If there is anything in the government's favor, it is that in the run-up to the elections, people's attention is diverted from other and more important issues that can be used to harass the government and come to the Kisan movement. A true and good demand is being misrepresented.
