I was shocked to read a news last week. Astrologers, political commentators and saints have predicted that BJP is ruling the country now and BJP government will come in 2024 as well. Why should any corporator, MLA or Member of Parliament of BJP leave the country at such a time? The news was that a BJP councilor of Ahmedabad Municipality resigned after getting a green card for permanent residence in America. He is now eager to go to America.

Today's elections, be it municipal or parliamentary, require a strong treasury to fight. Need crores of rupees. The gist of saying is that only a rich person can vote. In other words it can be said that this corporator of the resigner is not Renjipenji. Money is enough. No crime has been registered against him. There is no news of any scam. Then why would there be a fascination with America's green card?

In fact, this question has become more and more ponderous over the past few years. It is understood that those who scam billions of rupees with banks should flee the country. It is also understandable that people who evade tax of crores of rupees go to live in a country like a tax haven. Here, the families who are considered to be wealthy leave the citizenship of the country and go to live abroad. According to the statistics presented by the government itself in the parliament, one lakh thirty four thousand five hundred sixty one people left the citizenship of the country and went elsewhere in 2018. 1,44,077 people migrated in 2019, 85,256 in 2020, 1,63,370 in 2021 and 2,25,620 people lost citizenship in 2022. More than 87 thousand people have left the country so far this year. It is worth thinking why this would be happening.

One thing can be understood that from the very Gram Panchayat to the Parliament i.e. from the bottom to the top, unbearable corruption has spread. Crores of cases have been pending in courts for decades. While giving money, the government system is doing the work of the citizens. Population growth is rampant. Drinkers make fun of the law, and an honest citizen cannot live happily even after breaking a sweat. On the other hand, some countries offer permanent residency to those who invest in local businesses. Some countries grant asylum to criminals. Just as the bold Punjabis called Khalistani live in Canada, habitual criminals like Dawood Ibrahim are in Pakistan.

But such a question is to stay in one way or another wherever you go. It is hard to find a country where corruption is absolutely zero. Politicians are the same everywhere. Natural calamities are also the same everywhere. Dubai, which was considered a paradise until yesterday, has been flooded more than once this year. A half-dozen hurricanes hit the US, leaving millions with blackouts. Even in Britain, which once ruled the whole world, the situation is not the same as before. On the contrary, in America and Europe, Indians who earn two leaves by working day and night are like specks in the eyes of other people. Every now and then there is news of an Indian person being killed in America.

In fact, before deciding to leave the citizenship and go elsewhere, we should think calmly that we have really created a situation like leaving the country forever, right? What is our definition of happiness? What do we need? For the past twenty-five to thirty years, many Indian families living in America or European countries are returning to their homeland. Lately they have realized that the end of the earth is home. There is no need to be angry or upset. But it is necessary to think calmly before giving up citizenship.
