In the future, India will be hit the hardest by the massive water shortage

- 80 percent of people experiencing water scarcity live in Asia

- Occasional

- Mankind is not aware of the fact that the Earth is heading towards acute water scarcity at an alarming rate

Let's take a look at this news before coming to the main topic. A food inspector from Chhattisgarh. His name is Rajesh Vishwas. On a holiday, Bhaisaheb went for a walk with Mitragan to a dam called Paralkot, and the mobile slipped from his hand and drowned in a reservoir near the dam. 96 thousand rupees expensive personal phone should be given a little? The local people could not find the phone after jumping into the water, so a 30 horsepower pump was called and the water was started to be raised. 21 lakh liters of water was emptied in four days. The water which could have quenched the thirst of the fields spread over hundreds of acres during the summer season was wasted. Ho-ha is done. Look fun. The stupid and clumsy officer who has been suspended with immediate effect still does not admit his mistake.

Not only this government sir, crores of people of India and the world are not aware of the alarming speed at which the whole earth is heading towards severe water shortage. Looking at the details of the United Nations World Water Development Report 2023 is heart-wrenching. The report says that 80 percent of the world's people living in water-scarce areas live in Asia alone. These are especially people living in North-East China, India and Pakistan. With a figure of 140 crores, India has now become the number one country in the world in terms of human population, but only 1.4% of the fresh water resources in the world are in our country. In 2016, the world's urban population experiencing water scarcity was 933 million (a third of the world's total urban population). This population figure will be 1.7 to 2.4 billion by the year 2050 (ie one-third to almost half of the total urban population of the world)...and India will be worst off.

Why are we so complacent that we are headed for a dire water crisis? The mainstream and social media have not been as vocal on this issue as they should have been. UNESCO Director General Audrey Azole clearly says, 'There is an urgent need to find solutions at the global level before the water problem spirals out of control. Water is the future of all mankind. As of today, two billion people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water.'

Richard Connor, chief editor of the World Water Development Report 2023, goes further and says, 'If we do not pay attention to this problem, it is certain that a crisis will occur. Population of cities, agriculture and industries consume 70 percent of the world's total water.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has used the adjective 'vampiric' (meaning bloodthirsty demon) for the haphazard 'development' around the world. He says, 'These deadly over-developments, improper use of water, pollution and global warming are sucking the blood of mankind drop by drop. How we are going to leave the planet for future generations depends on how well all countries work together to solve this problem. Governments, industries, scientists and the general public of countries around the world must unite for the development and smart management of water resources.

This is termed transboundary cooperation. Global cooperation is essential, as 900 rivers and lakes of the world are shared by 153 countries. One thing out of a hundred. 'If there is water then there is life' is not an empty slogan. This is the truth.
