Who is Atiq Ahmad whom Yogi refused to settle?


- Atiq became MLA for the first time by winning as an independent, winning hat-trick from 1991 to 1993 also as an independent.

- There are more than 120 cases against Atiq Ahmad, considered the most dangerous mafia politician in UP. The movie style murder of Umesh Pal in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj has created a stir. The six machine-gunned assailants fled indiscriminately with bullets and bombs, ending Pal's game in just 47 seconds. To protect Umesh Pal, the gunman was constantly with him, but the attackers made such elaborate plans that there was no chance of rescue. The assailants rained bullets and hurled bombs to defend themselves, while Umesh Pal was killed by the first bullet.

This incident has also had deep repercussions politically as Umesh Pal was the main witness in the murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal in Prayagraj in 2005. UP's notorious gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed is the prime accused in the Raju Pal murder case. Atiq Ahmad was given police protection as there was a threat that the gang would also kill Umesh Pal. Gunman Raghavendra was constantly with them.

Umesh Pal went out in the car at around five o'clock on Friday evening. After the car left the house, Pal went out to close the door when an assailant approached and shot him. When the injured Umesh Pal ran towards the house, the assailant entered the house and killed him by firing bullets. Gunman Radhvendra came out and pointed the gun, bullets started raining on him too. The gunman was also injured in the firing by six assailants in a white car and a red bike.

The attackers let the gunman go as they only intended to kill Umesh Pal. Umesh Pal is also a domineering leader so men are kept for protection at home. As his men did not pursue, the assailants scattered bullets and bombs indiscriminately to create fear.

This incident has caused an uproar in UP. Due to this incident, there was a huge uproar in the UP Assembly. Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav alleged that Yogi Adityanath's regime was under mafia rule, while the enraged Yogi accused Atiq Ahmad, who is responsible for this murder, of having been nurtured by Samajwadi parties and said that SP men are planning to steal.

Akhilesh and Yogi also got into a heated fight and its videos have also gone viral. Both are seen shouting at each other in the video. Amidst this argument, Yogi has denied that the culprits of the Prayagraj incident will be wiped out. Raju Pal's family has filed a complaint against Atiq Ahmad and everyone knows who killed Umesh Pal. Yogi also hit the dialogue that, hum mafiaon ke khilaf hain aur atiq ahmad ko mitti mein milla denge.

Atiq Ahmed has come into the limelight after Yogi's hype. The question of who is Atiq Ahmad who troubled Yogi who claimed to have eliminated the Mafia Raj in UP is being discussed across the country. UP Police has registered a complaint against Atiq Ahmed, his brother Khalid Anjum alias Ashraf, Atiq's wife Shaista Parveen and Atiq's sons in the Umesh Pal murder case. His interrogation is also going on but the important question is whether Yogi will end Atiq Ahmed's mafia empire or not.

Atiq Ahmed, considered the most dangerous mafia politician in UP, has more than 120 cases against him. There is no crime including murder, raid, kidnapping, extortion, robbery, in which there is no super accused. Atiq was 19 years old when the first case was registered against him but long before that Atiq had started his journey of crime. The Gangster Act came into force in UP in 1986 and the first case was registered against Atiq Ahmad. Although Atiq was only 23 years old at that time, a case was registered against him under the Gangster Act.

Atiq established his own crime network in Allahabad in the 1980s and created tremendous fear. To take advantage of this fear, he entered politics and contested the Assembly elections for the first time in 1989. Atiq became MLA for the first time by winning as an independent from Allahabad West seat. Atik won a hat-trick in 1991 and 1993 as an independent.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, seeing Atiq's power, took him aside. In 1996, Atiq became an MLA for the fourth time after winning on a SP ticket. In 2002, Atiq Ahmed left his team due to a rift with Mulayam. Atik was also made the party president of Sonelal Patel's father of minister Anupriya Patel's party Apna Dal in the Modi government. However, Mulayam convinced Atiq and brought him back and gave him a ticket from Phulpur Lok Sabha seat in 2004. Atiq Ahmad won easily and became a member of the Lok Sabha.

The SP gave ticket to his younger brother Mohammad Ashraf from the Allahabad West seat vacated by Atiq after winning the Lok Sabha elections. Mayawati's BSP gave ticket to Raju Pal who lost to Atiq in 2002. Pal defeats Ashraf and makes Atiq proud. A teased Atiq Ahmad had Raju Pal killed in public only three months later. Raju Pal was on his way to his village to attend the January 26 program when Atik's goons ambushed him. Atiq's brother Ashraf easily won the by-election and became an MLA. Mayawati fielded Raju Pal's widow Pooja Pal to break Atik's dominance. Pooja defeated Atiq's brother in 2007 and ended his political career by defeating Atiq in 2012. After that Atik made many attempts to sit politically again with the support of the SP but did not succeed. After the rise of BJP in UP in 2014, political comeback has become difficult for Atiq. After Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of UP in 2017, Atiq Ahmed was among the gangsters he targeted.

Yogi's tawai has left Atiq politically down but his crime network has not been destroyed. Atiq Ahmed has proved this by breaking into Umesh Pal's house and killing him.

Atiq is said to have the largest gang in UP even today. His gang is said to have more than 200 paid shooters. Atiq's extortion and contract work flourishes in Allahabad. Yogi could not destroy this network in six years. Let's see what Yogi does now, spoiled by Umesh Pal's murder.

Atiq has been confined in Sabarmati Jail since 2019

Atiq Ahmadani has been in jail since he was jailed in February 2017 for killing a university staff member. However, Atik used to extort money while sitting in jails of UP, so he is currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad.

After Atiq was arrested in 2017, Devaria was kept in jail. Atik's men picked up businessman Mohit Jaiswal and brought him to Deoria Jail.

Jaiswal did not pay the ransom so Atik brought him to jail and beat him. He also threatened to settle if the ransom is not paid.

As Yogi has already become the Chief Minister in UP, he assured Jaiswal of security and made a complaint.

After Atiq was found guilty in the case, he was sent to Bareilly Jail. He was also running a crime network from Bareilly Jail, so he was sent to Sabarmati Jail in June 2019.

Atiq survives despite bombs thrown in court

Atiq Ahmad was a MLA when he was fatally attacked in 2002. A bomb was hurled at Atiq when he was produced in the court amid heavy security. Atiq was injured but survived. Mayawati was the Chief Minister of UP at that time. Atik alleged that Mayawati gave SP Lalji Shukla a betel nut to kill herself. Shukla's men threw a bomb at him. No one took Athik's words seriously.
