Kashmir Files' Controversy: Interest in Bridging the Jury

- Nadav Lapid Apologizes After Buffing: Israeli Government Apologizes To People Of India Despite Face-to-Face Accusations

- Millions of people have seen 'Kashmir Files' before jury members including Nadav called the film useless. People have praised this film, which has earned more than three and a half crore rupees. If people didn't like the film, it wouldn't have reached ten crores. In these circumstances, whatever Nadav or anyone else says about the film, their opinion should be ignored.

Controversy has returned over comments made by jury chief Nadav Lapid about the movie 'Kashmir Files' at Goa's International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Three more jury members came out in favor of Nadav who called 'Kashmir Files' a 'vulgar' and 'propaganda' movie. He claimed that whatever Nadev said was not his personal opinion but the opinion of all the jury members. All the jury members agree with what Nadev said as the chief of the jury. It is believed that due to this claim, the controversy over the 'Kashmir files' issue will start again.

Last week, Nadav Lapid called 'Kashmir Files' a vulgar and propaganda film. Following this, from Vivek Agnihotri, who made the film 'Kashmir Files', to Anupam Kher, the lead actor of 'Kashmir Files', everyone broke down. Nadav was also criticized on social media. Agnihotri and Anupam claimed that Nadav had no idea what he had done to Kashmiri Pandits. Jury member Sudipto Sen claimed that Nadav's opinion was personal and other members of the jury did not agree with him. Sen also claimed that Nadav threw out opinions on his own instead of reading the statement prepared by the jury.

Anupam Kher met Israel's Counsel General Kobb Shoshani in India and protested. Shoshani apologized to the people of India on behalf of the Israeli government for Nadav's comments. Nadav also said that such comments should not be made. Nadav later apologized and said that I had no intention to insult Kashmiri Pandits or Hindus. My sympathies go out to the families of the Hindus killed in the violence in Kashmir and I apologize if they have been hurt. Nadav himself said that he does not know anything about India and has no interest in Indian politics.

The apology seemed to have dropped the issue, but three other jury members, including Nadav's colleagues Jinko Gotov, Pascal Chavans and Javier Angvalo Barturen, entered the fray. He has officially stated that all three are in hundred percent agreement with what Nadav said as Jury Chief. Meaning, even according to him 'Kashmir Files' is a 'vulgar' and 'propaganda' movie.

Nadev said that he does not deny the tragic incidents that happened to Kashmiri Pandits but his comments were about the quality and artistry of the film.

All three have expressed the same opinion. He has claimed that we were also shocked to see 'Kashmir files'. The film was in no way qualified to compete artistically at a prestigious film festival like the Goa IFFI. The trio also clarified that we have no political views on the content of the film but we regret that the festival was used for politics and personal attacks on Nadav.

The jury of the Goa Film Festival had five members. Nadav is an Israeli writer and director. Nadav has a huge name internationally.

Among those who supported Nadav is Jinko Gotoh, an American producer whose movies have already been nominated for Oscar awards. Javier is a French filmmaker and journalist while Pascal is a French film editor.

With these three sitting in Nadav's ranks, Indian Sudipto Sen is now the only member who is in favor of the 'Kashmir files'.

Following the claims of these three jury members, the backlash has started on social media. Along with Nadav, these three are also starting to quarrel but it is unnecessary. People criticizing 'Kashmir Files' need not be given importance because the opinion of four people is not going to change the reality. Even if those giving these opinions are internationally renowned creators, it is worth nothing.

Before Nadav and other jury members called the film useless, 'Kashmir Files' has been watched by crores of people. 'Kashmir Files' is the hottest Bollywood movie of this year. People have praised this film, which has earned more than three and a half crore rupees. That's why so much trouble happened.

Had the rest of the people not liked the film, it would not have reached even ten crores. In these circumstances, whatever Nadav or anyone else says about the film, their opinion should be ignored.

How the film is artistically doesn't matter much to the common people as the film is meant to show the reality of how the Kashmiri Pandits had to run away from the Lugde.

The film talks about the price paid by Hindus including the Pandits of Kashmir by becoming victims of fundamentalism and terrorism. It doesn't matter if it has poor production quality or no artistry. There is nothing wrong with showing some violence or indecency to show it. The aim of reaching the new generation about the torture suffered by Kashmiri Pandits has been achieved with this film. Not only in India but also to the people of other countries.

Of course it is nonsense that 'Kashmir files' are made for propaganda. What is the agenda of the victims? What does he have to do bad publicity? Of nothing. If a bit of drama is added to make the film popular, it is not called propaganda.

The so-called big people are somehow adept at being in controversy. Jury members including Nadav have also taken that path and created controversy.

Those people are interested in smearing the bodice and that's why after apologizing, they created a new controversy. Indians should ignore it, put an end to this controversy.

Pandits-Hindus will not benefit from 'Kashmir files'

Nadav criticizes 'Kashmir files' even if it is not taken seriously, Indians need to think seriously about the Hindus who fled from Kashmir.

When the film 'Kashmir Files' came out earlier this year, the history of Kashmiri Pandits fleeing the Kashmir Valley wearing loogs following calls from mosques was revived. The new generation was not aware of the atrocities on Pandits so this film was a new subject for them. Due to this, the film became a super hit. Even on social media, the issue of Kashmiri Pandits was very popular but then it was forgotten. Even the sympathy created for the Pandits when the film was released is gone and Kashmiri Hindus are all over the place. Producers including Vivek Agnihotri benefited from the film. Three and a half hundred crores of rupees came into his account, but the Pandits did not benefit. Target killing of Hindus is still going on in Kashmir

People sympathized with the Kashmiri Pandits and angered the people who drove them away, but this anger proved to be futile. Vivek Agnihotri, who earned crores by showing the movie, has not spent a single rupee for the Pandits, nor has the people who went to the theater and shown outrage after watching the movie done anything for the Pandits.

Indians should think about this. Organizations should come forward to help Pandits to go back to their native places to ease the sufferings of Pandits.
