Kharge will also have to take into confidence the so-called Group-23 in the party before trying to unite the opposition. The group had been demanding an election for the party presidency for a long time. The leaders of Group-23 are experienced and could be useful, but they resented the Gandhi family, especially Rahul Gandhi.

Of course, the first task for Kharge is to save Sachin Pilot's group in Rajasthan.
