It was said on Saturday that the MCD in Delhi may issue an order not to allow parking of vehicles without an updated PUC certificate. However, these are all ridiculous gestures.

Government vehicles are also seen sprinkling water at various places in Delhi-NCR, which reduces the amount of dust in the air. But the style of these measures shows that the government is trying to reduce the symptoms of the problem. So far, there has been no significant success in solving the problem or reducing its severity. The practice of burning surplus agricultural waste in Punjab and surrounding states has been identified as one of the main causes since many years. But there are no signs of much progress on that front.
