- Kerala has got two reasons to celebrate together - Vande Bharat Express and Kochi Water Metro

Rivers and seas are being used as part of the effort to find alternatives to road transport. Due to the problem of traffic jams on the roads, people get stuck and movement of goods is affected. So the government has of late monitored the surface of the rivers and the channels passing through them. An initial level of testing of a metro train in Kolkata passing through an under-water tunnel took place last week. It is announced that it will be formally launched at the end of 2023. Similarly, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train route will pass through a 21 km long sea tunnel.

An overwater metro train was recently inaugurated at Kochi in Kerala. Vande Bharat Express Train and Water Metro are both starting in Kerala. This innovative project called Kochi Water Metro will boost the economy of Kerala, especially the Kochi region. It will save people time and will be important for tourism. The Chief Minister of Kerala has said that this is a dream project of Kerala. India's first water metro will be battery operated and use electric system.

Covering ten islands of Kerala, this water metro is very ambitious for Kerala. 78 electric hybrid boats have been interconnected in Kochi Water Metro (NAFS). There are 38 terminals of this metro. This project has been completed at a cost of Rs 1136.83 crore. Apart from Kerala government, German company KF W has also provided funding. Kerala Water Metro is air-conditioned and has facilities like Vande Bharat Express. Every coach is inherently sophisticated.

Kochi Water Metro is claimed to be eco-friendly. Care has been taken to ensure that disabled travelers can travel easily. Vande Bharat Express will run between Thiruvananthapuram and Kesargod. This train will pass through 11 districts. Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat Express and also inaugurated the unit where the electrification work of the Kochi Metro Rail is done.

The Kochi Water Metro is expected to ease the traffic problem. People could not reach work on time. Pollution was increasing due to overcrowding. Kochi Metro will provide relief to the people for their daily commute. One lakh people living on 10 islands will be directly benefited. Until now, their movement was done through boats. Kerala Chief Minister Pinnerai Vijay claims that the transport and tourism sectors are growing significantly in the south.

Test run of Kolkata Rail Metro has been successful. Now the stations are working. It is expected that people will be able to travel in it by the end of 2023. Even though there is no BJP government in Kerala, the Prime Minister was interested in the planning of a riverside metro in Kochi. The country's first water metro is a matter of pride not only for Kerala, but for all citizens of India.

Seeing that the Water Metro is coming in his state and the Prime Minister himself has taken interest in its planning, Shashi Tharoor, a Congolese MP from Kerala, tweeted that there should be no continuous discussion of politics. We should also welcome good work.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone of Kochi Metro in 2012. After that his work started in 2013. On June 17, 2020, the journey was also started in the eight kilometer belt. However, the work of connecting 10 islands and building a terminal on it took a long time. A floating passageway has been constructed from the island to the metro. Tourists can go to the train by walking from it. Tourists from 10 islands will benefit on this 76 km long route. Thus, Kerala has got two gifts at once - one is the Vande Bharat Express and the other is the Kochi Water Metro.
