Eminent Indians have influence on foreign policy

- The danger increases when India starts to cause differences between political parties in any country of the world

People of Indian origin living abroad have always been a strong source for India's foreign policy. India's presence in the parts of the world, especially in the West, has acted as a strong link between India's government and policies.

This is more applicable in countries like America, where Indian people living there are considered very useful and respectable. To give an example, the average income of an Indian American is higher than that of people in other countries by many estimates.

This is also one of the reasons why even anti-Indian immigration politicians in America see people of Indian origin as a 'gentleman's minority'. People of Indian origin have also created a strong prestigious image in politics in various parts of the world. Portugal, Ireland and Britain have people from India as Prime Ministers, including the US President (Kamala Harish).

Thus, the dignitaries of India living abroad have spread everywhere, which is natural that the current Modi government of India is taking advantage of. The Prime Minister regularly meets the Indian community during his foreign visits. And also participate in their programs. There have been two occasions in which the then leaders of America Donald Trump and Prime Minister David Cameron in London have also addressed this program.

Ever since the Khalistani movement has raised its head in Punjab, everything has gone haywire. But there are also concerns that expatriate Indians may become increasingly resentful of foreign and domestic policies in the coming decade.

The Government of India holds some of these anti-India elements responsible for fueling the separatist movement in the state. This conflict has come to the fore in countries, particularly Commonwealth countries, where the Sikh community has a large population. Violence erupted in Australia in late January, killing two people. The violence erupted after news of the alleged vandalism of two temples in Melbourne surfaced on social media.

The Indian Prime Minister, in an official program with the Prime Minister of Australia, emphasized that tackling and solving such incidents has become important to create peace and harmony in the world. Indian embassies and delegations in both London and San Francisco have clashed with protesters in recent days. Strict opinions were also given on this incident from both America and Britain.

The British Foreign Secretary expressed displeasure. The American and British governments came under the onslaught of Indian nationalism. Meanwhile, local politicians in Canada also joined in to cast their votes.

This comes after the Twitter feed of the leader of the New Democratic Party, the main party supporting the government in Canada, was banned in India. The leader's Twitter feed was banned after he sought intervention from Justin Trudeau on the situation in Punjab.

There are other long-term problems as well. In particular, communal violence in the UK city of Leicester was in the news last year. Leicester has a large population of people of South Asian origin. The violence is reminiscent of frequent Hindu-Muslim riots in South Asia. It was also a sign that Britain was becoming increasingly polarized between the two sects.

British Muslims who took part in the Leicester riots were of Indian origin, but some Christians from Goa were also involved. The Indian High Commissioner's statement on the subject emphasized the need to protect Hinduism. Whether this was appropriate in this particular case is debatable, but it increases the risk of the Indian High Commissioner becoming embroiled in local politics.
