Talk of Delhi: Cancellation of special reservation for Muslims in Karnataka

New Delhi: Ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections, the BJP has played a big gamble and canceled the 4 percent reservation for Muslims. Out of the 4 percent reservation for Muslims, 2 percent is given to the Vokkaligas and 2 percent to the Lingayat caste. The Basavaraj Bommi government has increased the reservation ratio in Karnataka from 50 percent to 56 percent. The BJP government has increased the reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) from 15 percent to 17 percent and the reservation for Scheduled Tribes (ST) from 3 percent to 7 percent.

Muslims will get reservation under Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. Currently castes including Brahmin, Vaishya, Mudaliar, Jain are in this category. Even among Muslims, now only the economically weaker like the caste will get the benefit of EWS reservation. Due to this decision of BJP, it is clear that BJP is relying on the votes of two castes, Vokkaliga and Lingayat, by playing the Hindutva and reservation card.

Sinha's failure, Gandhiji did not have a degree!

The video of Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha's rant about Mahatma Gandhi's degree has gone viral. Manoj Sinha said that Gandhi did not have a degree from any recognized university. People have only illusions about Gandhiji's degree but he did not have any degree but who can say that Gandhiji was not educated because of that?

Sinha claims that Mahatma Gandhi practiced law. He was also qualified for it but he had no law degree.

Explain to this illiterate that Gandhi went to England with a law degree and practiced in South Africa, people are outraged by this comment. Some have quipped that Sinha looks to everyone like a BJP leader who claims to be educated based on false degrees.

Announcement of case against Modi, Renuka mocked

Congress leader Renuka Choudhary, in a counter attack, is making fun of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by announcing a defamation case against Narendra Modi while the Surat court has sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to a two-year sentence for making disastrous comments about Modi's surname. It is being commented that Renuka does not understand that a defamation case cannot be filed for the remarks made in Parliament.

Renuka has announced that she will file a defamation case against Modi for his alleged scurrilous remarks in Parliament in 2018. It remains to be seen how quickly the court acts now.

Renuka has also posted a video of Modi's comment on February 7, 2018. During Modi's speech in the Rajya Sabha, Renuka laughed as the opposition booed. Modi said mildly, I request you not to say anything to Renukaji. After the Ramayana serial, today we have the good fortune to hear such laughter.

BJP will raise the issue of humiliation of OBCs

As the opposition unites after the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the post of Lok Sabha MP, the BJP will vigorously attack Rahul Gandhi's comments as anti-OBC community. Apart from this, the BJP will attack by portraying Rahul's comments in Britain as an insult to the country's institutions.

Since the BJP leader did not mince words on Rahul's issue, the BJP leaders have been ordered to keep their reaction focused on insulting OBCs and not to say anything about the legal or technical aspects of the case. The top leaders of BJP have started making such statements that Rahul's comment that why all thieves have the surname Modi is an insult to the entire OBC community because Modi belongs to the OBC community.

Some BJP leaders have demanded that Rahul be prosecuted for contempt of court by commenting that Rahul had continued to make such comments even after he was slapped by the Supreme Court over a speech.

Application to frame rules for central agencies

14 political parties have petitioned the Supreme Court against alleged arbitrary abuses by central investigative agencies. The petition filed by Congress leader and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi is scheduled to be heard on April 5. Interestingly, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have come together on this issue, despite the talk of opposition unity.

Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud has agreed to hear the petition on April 5, 2023. In their petition, the political parties have requested that guidelines be drawn up for agencies and courts implementing the rules on arrest, remand and bail by the agencies.

Congress, Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Janata Dal United, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, RJD, Samajwadi Party, Shiv Sena (Uddhav), National Conference, NCP, CPI, CPIM and DMK are parties to this petition.

Congress strategy to re-contest Rahul from Wayanad

Rahul's Lok Sabha membership has been revoked after he was sentenced to two years for commenting on Modi's surname. When Rahul Gandhi's Wayanad seat has fallen vacant, the Congress is thinking of a strategy to re-contest Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad by suspending Rahul Gandhi's sentence. The Congress believes that if Rahul wins again from Wayanad, a yoke may arise in favor of the Congress.

On the other hand, BJP is working to prevent the by-election of Wayanad seat from being held. With only one year left for the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP will submit a proposal to the Election Commission to avoid by-elections. BJP is worried about this issue in the Karnataka assembly elections.

In the meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party, the opinion was expressed to re-contest Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi attended the meeting of Congress MPs at the Congress Parliamentary Office in Parliament. On March 23, after the Surat court sentenced Rahul Gandhi to 2 years, the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a notification to revoke Rahul Gandhi's membership.

"We have enough evidence to believe that the orders to kill the Congress workers came from the Chief Minister's office," Sathisan added.
