Is there an agenda to lock Jawaharlal Nehru University?

- Comma

- Both the ruling party BJP and the newcomer Aam Aadmi Party have their hunger for power at its peak, but the Congress has become accustomed to contesting every electoral power with disdain.

Assembly elections have been completed in two phases across Gujarat. The ideological poverty of Indian leaders and voters is visible on the surface. Candidates have spoken in the public meeting. All the parties also gave tickets to a few rogue elements as per quota. Their meetings have done nothing but spread animosity among the electorate. This time, for the first time in history, the shadow of Bihar model was seen in Gujarat. The list of criminals released on parole before the election is worth seeing. Those factors have worked to benefit a particular party through intimidation in certain constituencies. Both the ruling BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party have their hunger for power at their peak, but the Congress has become accustomed to fighting every electoral power with dispassion. BJP has saffron color, but Congress has more experience of dispassion!

Ever since the NDA government came to the centre, the BJP has clawed at all the credible and reputable institutions, starting from the Reserve Bank to a small statistical department at the centre, under one pretext or the other. New Delhi's government's fresh efforts to dock New Delhi's internationally renowned Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), whose name the BJP is allergic to, have backfired, but the shadow of the student agitation over the fee hike issue is starting to loom large. One thing is that this is an Asian university, not just an Indian one. It is truly a university. Instead of giving it as much autonomy as possible, the government wants to increase control over it.

Students come here from all regions of the country and even from remote areas. Parents of most of them students cannot afford the new half fee. Forty percent of the students come from families whose income is less than twelve thousand. They live far below the poverty line and educate their children here on a shoestring. Our constitution says equal opportunity for all, but the new fee hike is a grabber of equal opportunity. There are students in the campus of JNU who while they are studying in the classroom, their fathers are traveling from village to village on bicycles picking scraps and their mothers are eating food somewhere. BJP is only interested in pleasing the people, not in eating them. As a result, higher education is becoming a nightmare. Ph. at Jawaharlal Nehru University. d. The standards for doing so have also undergone a sky-rocketing change. Fee hike in many departments has been going on for the past one year.

As there was not much agitation and protest, the government increased the study and education fees of the students several times. Today, Jawalal Nehru University has produced many prominent people in the public life of the country. Many of his students are spread across the world. The central government has not given a single good idea till date to enhance the reputation of this university. There is such a ghost in BJP's mind that the name of this university is Jawaharlal Nehru University, so it behaves as if it is a Congress university. Last time, the entire world saw the aggressive behavior of the government through the police when a huge rally of students reached the Parliament premises on the first day of the Parliament session.

And it has also been severely criticized. Swaraj India president Yogendra Yadav said that the government's claim that the fee hike has been rolled back is also blatantly untrue. If you want to pay the old fees, you have to submit so many forms and there are norms that barely 5% of the students get the benefit. BJP has decided that if the university is to be closed tomorrow, even if it happens today, but the control is going to increase and one day this university is going to be locked. The name of Jawaharlal, who was also a scholar himself, attached to the name of the university, is the reason why the name does not go outside the country.

Our present day leaders have neither the sensibilities of Jawaharlal nor his speech. Gandhiji had said in his lifetime that after my death my speech will be spoken by Jawaharlal Nehru. Jawaharlal was not an avatar but a great man. He may also have his mistakes, but because of that, the people of the country see the attempt that the BJP has made to wash away his remaining contributions and dedication, and when necessary, they have sidelined Sardar Patel. The last five-year term of NDA was spent in commenting on Congress. Time is running fast and this term too will pass the NDA neglecting the dangerous political situation of the country. Kalo Gachchati Dhimtam!

Some of the great libraries that we have in our country are also some university libraries outside of Calcutta. Hansa Mehta Library of Vadodara Maharaja Sayajirao University, Gujarat Vidyapith Granthalaya, L. d. Just like Indology Parishad Library, Navsari Library, and Gandhi Smriti Library are jewels of Gujarat, JNU's library is also the top and most prestigious in the country. When Googlebaba was not there and even after this, these temples of knowledge have kept his aura like that. This is like Manhe Padaya Te Mahasukh Mane, Dekhanhara Daze. BJP is also so jealous of JNU library (jealousy is an indirect compliment) that now it has also cut off the government grant it receives. So new knowledge will come less in this knowledge. Higher education in the country is becoming so expensive that the poor and middle class cannot afford it and the poor will remain poor and the poor will remain poor.

How many new libraries has the central government created in the last eight-ten years? Alas, production of new programs on Akashvani and Doordarshan has stopped. The Congress government formed Prasar Bharti at the suggestion of Rajiv Gandhi's friend Pupul Jayakar. Today Prasar Bharti is a box and that too lying in the yard. Prasar Bharti officials have ordered all the centers of Akashvani and Doordarshan not to produce new programs and re-broadcast old programs, simply because there is no budget. The creativity of these two main mass media of the country is now on the brink of extinction.

This time BJP showed inclination towards art, literature and music in its manifesto and it is a different thing that artists of Gujarat were satisfied with that artistry. In fact, BJP's main contribution is in taking politics to an art form. Art has a special appropriation of imagination. The NDA government and many of its ministers have repeatedly resorted to imagination. There is still time for the power to end at the centre. If the central government assumes that in the time that is still left, it can give new life to many autonomous organizations of the country and many innovative organizations can be put on the feet of the people. But in order to do all this work, the NDA government has to put the party aside for some time and take the country in hand.
