AIIMS Server Hack, Cyber Security Poll Opened

- Desi cyber experts tried to get the server up and running but to no avail, the hackers watched the spectacle from a distance.
- The solution to this problem is to create robust cyber security. A system and firewalls are necessary so that hackers cannot penetrate our system. India has a population of crores so the threat to India is huge. In these circumstances India needs to take cyber security more seriously after the cyber attack in AIIMS.
The cyber attack on the server of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has created a stir. Due to this cyber attack, most of the operations of AIIMS have come to a standstill, but now there are also reports of patient data being sold on the dark web. The seriousness of the matter has increased many folds since the notorious criminals of international level are working in the dark web. This cyber attack happened ten days ago and is said to have been done by Chinese hackers. It is also shocking that even after ten days we cannot do anything.
Since AIIMS server was hacked ten days ago, the entire system has been down for ten days. Desi cyber experts tried to get the server up and running but to no avail. Six days after the attack, the hackers announced that the server had been hacked and demanded a ransom of Rs 200 crore in crypto currency for not stealing server data or causing any damage. Hackers are said to have started selling the data of about 4 crore patients after India did not accept the demand.
The central government denies this. The government has admitted that five servers were hacked but does not believe that any data has been leaked. Of course, anything that happens on the Internet is no longer hidden, so the fact that patient data is sold has also come out. Hackers are currently selling the data of common people but there is a lot of sensitive data behind AIIMS. Apart from dignitaries including the current Prime Minister, President and all Ministers, there is also data of thousands of VIPs including former Prime Ministers, Ministers, officials, judges. If this data is also sold, our noses will grow.
Thus, the country's biggest hospital like AIIMS has been hacked due to the fact that the nose has grown but it is necessary to wake up so that it does not happen again in the future. Unfortunately, this situation has resulted in not learning lessons from past events. The sudden power outage in Mumbai in October last year was due to Chinese hackers. Due to this, the train service which was the lifeline of Mumbai was stopped. Everywhere else was also affected. At that time, everyone considered it a normal incident, but some time ago, America's top newspaper New York Times blasted that a Chinese group called Redeco had hacked the system and disrupted the power in Mumbai.
In this way, whatever the hackers penetrate into the server, for a big country like India, it is said to be like drowning with water in the lid and it is necessary to understand how big a threat it is. Nowadays even a common man cannot live without internet. Net banking, digital wallets etc. are increasing due to internet. Now people do most of their financial transactions through the internet. Hackers can hack the system and empty our bank accounts in seconds.
Due to the increased currency of the Internet, people have also become more active on social media. People share their personal information and secrets. Communication about business and other economic matters is also done through the Internet. It's not hard to imagine the kind of blackmail hackers can do by misusing information for personal or financial gain.
The solution to this problem is to create robust cyber security. A system and firewalls are necessary so that hackers cannot penetrate our system. India has a population of crores so the threat to India is huge. In these circumstances India needs to take cyber security more seriously after the cyber attack in AIIMS. India is not at par with America or Japan or other developed countries in terms of technology. Countries including America, Japan are the fathers in the field of technology. They have the strength to counter any kind of cyber attack but India does not have that strength. India is dependent on other countries for technology. India started its space program because of the proud Gujarati Vikram Sarabhai and now India also puts its own satellites in space but we are still dependent on other countries for technology. Our satellite communication technology is not invented by us but taken from other countries. This technology is not sophisticated so it is not very difficult to disrupt it. Under these circumstances, India has to build an impenetrable wall against cyber attacks with the help of developed countries.
China active in jamming India's communication network
An American organization called China Aerospace Studies Institute (CASI) warned two years ago that China is planning to launch a cyber attack on India's satellite communication network. This organization has blasted that China wants to disrupt India's communication system completely through this attack.
In the CASI report, shocking details were given that China has been conducting cyber attacks to disrupt the communication network in India for the past decade. Between 2012 and 2018, China carried out several cyber attacks on India's satellite communication network. China launched a large scale attack in 2017 to disrupt India's communication network but was unsuccessful.
This organization monitors China's space program and other matters. According to his claim, China had also tried to disrupt America's satellite communication network. America's Army Headquarters Pentagon also sent a report on this to the President.
Scientists have admitted that CAASI's claim is flawed. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) runs the space program in India. Satellite communication networks are part of the space program. ISRO supported this report and admitted that satellite communication networks can be disrupted by cyber attacks. ISRO admitted that there have been many attempts to disrupt the satellite communication network by cyber attack in India but these efforts have not been successful as ISRO is on alert. This type of cyber attack still happens, so ISRO has warned to be vigilant.
Narendra Modi's Twitter account was also hacked
There is a problem of cyber security in India and in September 2020, the Twitter account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personal website was also hacked. The hacker hacked this account and tweeted an appeal to Modi's followers to donate to the National Relief Fund. No such appeal was made by Modi, so the government system was running. The government did not know what had happened, but when Twitter was contacted, Twitter also confirmed that Modi's account had been hacked.
Considering that Modi is the Prime Minister of the country, it was a shame that his account was hacked. It goes without saying that the threat posed by a hacker taking over Modi's Twitter account could be overstated.
The person who hacked Modi's Twitter account did no harm, but the incident opened the door to cyber security in India. Modi's official Twitter handle has followers in crores but his personal website account has more than 25 lakh followers. His personal account was also hacked despite being part of a highly secured network.
The hacker claimed to have falsely implicated him in another scam. He has repeatedly told the media that he is innocent in the media, but without anyone noticing, he hacked Modi's account to convey his point.
