The Politics of Protest in Brazil

A convenient reason why leaders' speeches are popular is that the listener is a fan of the speaker. Almost every leader should be and is a great speaker. His speech should flow fluently; In order for the flow of speech to remain intact and interesting, the leader's speech should be understood without effort. Brazil's former president Jair Bolsonaro has alleged that EVMs were tampered with after a crushing defeat in the election. His words were so poignant that Bolsonaro's supporters took to the field to protest the election results. The rioters also destroyed gifts from international delegations and precious paintings, sculptures and other artefacts of Brazilian heritage. The carpet of the palace was also set on fire. The fanatical goons overtook the mounted policemen and knocked them to the ground. In this way Bolsonaro has revealed his lust for power by committing an anti-national act that puts democracy itself to shame.

Bolsonaro's supporters did not come automatically. He was provoked, which led him to storm the Parliament building in style. In the meantime, when a woman journalist caught up with them, she was also brutally beaten by the protesters. This became the most infamous day in Brazilian history. Bolsonaro initially refused to abdicate and hand over power, citing massive vote-counting irregularities after an apparent defeat in the presidential election. However, with the global media taking serious note of it, Bolsonaro had to hand over the throne to the new president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Donald Trump also did not like to leave power in the same way. Trump's supporters were also up in arms.

Bolsonaro does not seem to have far-reaching credibility or ethics. Only with the slogan of making Brazil great again, and with the help of financial power relying on party funds, he was able to sway the people. While Rome was burning, Nero was busy playing the fiddle, while millions of people were losing their lives in the Corona virus epidemic, Bolsonaro went to play golf. This revealed his mood. Bolsonaro has been changing his political allies faster than the color of his sword. Since there is no continuity in their thinking, the number of resignations from various positions cannot be said now.

Bolsonaro's mentality is that of a businessman. He rejected the recommendation of medical experts for lockdown. However, he did not hesitate to remember Mr. Modi and request him to send the vaccine free of cost when the outbreak occurred. The situation today is that the Supreme Court of Brazil wants to jail the Bolsonaros for the violence committed after the election results, but now the Bolsonaros are resting under the umbrella of Biden in America. Presenting a picture to the world that they are in poor health. However, with no other loophole to escape from the storms in Brazil, they now want to be 'poor' to the world community by making health a weapon of freedom. So, on his defeat, did the people, unhappy with the election results, go out to set the nation on fire?

In democratic nations, the people have the right to express their opinion, but it is rare that the people come together and march into the parliament building with the same arms. What is the unity of the people even in the attack! If the police release tear gas, they will retaliate by throwing bombs. As much as the whole of Brazil knows that Bolsonaro's orders have been unleashed by his thugs, his vile act has tarnished democracy. While Bolsonaro was in opposition, he vehemently opposed incumbent President Lula, and the only exception to the law enacted after taking power was the sharp canal. He has taken full advantage of this omission. Brazil today is going through an era of chaos. Brazilians crave change. When they want freedom from poverty and unemployment, now even a small mistake by the new president Lula can be instrumental in inciting Bolsonaro's supporters. Now all eyes are on what direction Bolsonara like Tarangi Taghalkh will take and where he will take his supporters.
